Alaina performed as a member of Georgia Country Gospel Music Association's children's group. Alaina first went to Nashville at age 12. She also performed in local bars such as Tootsie's in Broadway. Alaina won the WinniSTAR competition for young talent in 2009 at Lake Winnepesaukah. She also composed songs such as Leaving and Set Me Free. The cousin of Alaina Holly Witherow was diagnosed with brain cancer, which inspired her to start singing. Alaina was a CiC's Pizza employee before joining Idol. She graduated from Lakeview Fort Oglethorpe Senior High School in Fort Oglethorpe Georgia.
